The Preferences dialog lets you customise how the editor looks and behaves. This dialog can be found in the Edit menu.

Available Options

Maximise window on startup

When enabled the editor opens in a maximised window each time it starts.

Load last file on startup

Automatically opens the last file that was being edited within the editor.

Show Toolbar tips

Displays helpful tooltips when the mouse pointer is placed over a toolbar button.

Display block text cursor

Changes the text cursor from a thin insertion bar to a block style cursor.

Turn on blinking cursor

Makes the text cursor blink while editing.

Show end of line markers

Displays markers that indicate the end of each line of text. 

Show main window title

Displays the current document name in the editor's title bar.

Display syntax colors

Enables syntax highlighting making source code easier to read and edit.

Backup files when saving

Creates a backup copy of a file whenever it is saved, helping to protect against accidental changes to a program file.

Display tab spaces

Shows tab characters within the editor, making indentation and spacing easier to see.

Feedback with sound

Plays audio notifications when displaying dialogs.

Show edit window margin

Displays a vertical margin guide in the editing window.

Select browser dialog

Uses the file browser selection dialog when creating a web page.
