This section will describe using Web Author HTML Plus for the first time.

When you start Web Author you will see the editors main window, this is where you can enter your HTML and scripting commands to create your web pages.

Toolbar

Above the edit window is the toolbar, a panel of buttons that allow you to perform common actions quickly without using the editors menu or keyboard shortcuts.

Menu bar

The Menu bar is located at the top of the editor window, directly beneath the title bar. It provides access to all of the editor's commands and features through a series of menus and sub menus.

Loading files

1. Select File from the editor's menu.

2. Move to the Examples folder and select a program file.

3. Click Open to load the file into the editor.

Create and view your web page

1. Select Compile and View from the Compile menu.

2. The Create Web Page dialog will appear, allowing you to choose a web browser.

3. Click on the OK button to create and view the example program.

It is also possible to use the Ctrl+R keys to create and view your web pages.

Saving files

After making any changes to the example file...

1. Select Save As from the editor's File menu.

2. In the Save As dialog enter a new name for your program file.

Finding and Replacing text

1. Open the Find/Replace dialog from the Search menu.

2. Enter a word or phrase to search for.

3. Click on Find Next to find your text.

4. Enable Match Case if needed.

Creating a new HTML file.

1. Select New Program from the File menu.

The following code can be seen in the edit window.

2. Enter the following command between the <body> and </body> section of the code. 

Remember all scripting commands and their parameters must be entered on a single line. Each line must start with a command followed by its parameter in the same order shown by the command definition.

3. Select Compile from the editors menu to create and view your web page.

All web pages will be created in the same folder as your program using a .html file extension.
